SWIRE AURBISは、100mmの大口径ドライバーを搭載しながら、「耳を塞がない」という前提から設計された新しい音響デバイスです。ヘッドフォンでもスピーカーでもない、耳の周囲にパーソナルな音場をつくるというアプローチにより、身体と音、そして空間の新しい関係性を提案します。

Design: 身体性と合理性の帰結

本来、100mmクラスの大型ドライバーは、その重量とサイズからヘッドフォンへの採用は困難とされてきました。AURBISはこの物理的制約を、耳ではなく首で荷重を受ける独自の構造によって解決しています。

これまで義手や装具などの身体に関わるプロダクトデザインを通じて培ってきた、「人と道具の理想的な距離感」を音響機器に応用。100mmドライバーならではの豊かな空気の動きと音圧を、身体の一部のように馴染む快適な装着感とともに実現しました。

SWIRE AURBIS is a novel acoustic device designed with the premise of “unblocking the ears” while housing massive 100mm large-diameter drivers. Historically, integrating 100mm-class large drivers into headphones has been considered impractical due to weight and size constraints. AURBIS overcomes these physical limitations through a unique structure that transfers the load to the neck rather than the ears.

Applying the “ideal distance between human and tool”—an insight cultivated through my previous work in prosthetic and orthotic design—I have achieved a comfortable, seamless fit that feels like an extension of the body, all while delivering the rich air movement and acoustic pressure unique to 100mm drivers.
